Bike Description for
KAWASAKI Z250 ABS
|With the Z250, Kawasaki brings the wild excitement of the street-fighter concept to the 250cc class. The Z250’s aggressive street-fighter design is inspired by larger models from the popular Z Series, the Z1000 and new Z800. Its muscular bodywork hints at the bike’s performance, while ensuring that the Z250 stands out from the crowd. Sharing the high-performance engine and chassis of the new Ninja 250, the Z250 offers the acceleration and handling to dominate the 250cc class. Coupled with a relaxed, upright riding position and wide handlebar enabling active rider control, urban riding excitement increases exponentially. In both looks and performance, the Z250 has what it takes to get noticed.|
The Z250’s sporty instrument package combines a large, analogue-style tachometer with a multi-function LCD screen. Its numerous features include a clock, fuel gauge and dual trip meters. Amber LED backlighting contributes to the street-fighter image and ensures clear meter visibility at night.
Minimalist tail cowl
Inspired by the street-fighter image of its Z Series brethren, the Z250 also features a “mass-forward, minimalist-tail” design. Its slim tail cowl helps concentrate bike’s mass at the front, creating an aggressive, dynamic appearance. With its forward crouching stance, the Z250 looks ready to pounce even with the engine off.
Short-style silencer with complex cross-section enables the requisite volume while ensuring an ample lean angle. Large silencer guard protects passengers from heat and also contributes to noise reduction.
Fierce headlamp cowl
The compact headlamp cowl with mini meter visor is a key styling element of the Z250’s aggressive, street-fighter design. The cowl houses a bright multi-reflector headlamp that adds to the bike’s stern expression.
Flared fuel tank
Adding to the bike’s dynamic design, the fuel tank is flared at the top edges and slants forward. The flared design enables a large 17-litre fuel capacity and contributes to the superb ergonomic fit between rider and machine.
Muscular engine shrouds
Another key Z styling feature, muscular shrouds contribute to Z250’s imposing presence while helping to set it apart from the relatively bland-looking naked bikes available until now.
Ninja-based Performance for Urban Domination
Fuel-injected 249 cm3 Parallel Twin engine
Designed for rider-friendly response, the Z250’s fuel-injected 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 249 cm3 Parallel Twin engine delivers smooth, responsive torque at low and medium rpm and hard-hitting acceleration at high rpm. Like the Ninja 250, the engine features a sleeveless, die-cast aluminium cylinder with supersport-style plated bores. The cylinder block is very lightweight and offers excellent heat dissipation. Lightweight coated pistons contribute to the engine’s superior performance, and numerous engine features ensure Kawasaki’s famous reliability. With the same sporty engine performance found on Ninja 250, one twist of the throttle will clearly distinguish the Z250 from lesser naked models.
Dual throttle valves
Similar to our Ninja supersport models, dual throttle valves give precise control of intake air, resulting in linear throttle response across the rpm range. Dual throttle valves also contribute to high performance, good combustion efficiency, and favourable fuel consumption.
140 mm rear tyre
Wide 140 mm rear tyre matches the engine’s sporty performance, contributes to the aggressive street-fighter image and offers superb straight-line stability.
Combined with its nimble handling character, the Z250’s upright riding position and wide handlebar put the rider in the ideal position for dynamic, sporty riding – a distinct advantage when hustling through city traffic. Backed by Ninja-based engine and chassis performance, the skilled Z250 rider will be untouchable in an urban setting.
Like its engine, the Z250 chassis, too, is based on the high-performance chassis of the Ninja 250. The circuit-developed diamond frame has balanced rigidity, matched to supple suspension settings, ensuring both a very high level of performance and excellent ride quality. And with the engine partially rubber mounted, vibrations are minimal, further contributing to the high-quality ride feel.
Petal disc brakes & lightweight aluminium wheels
Large-diameter 290 mm front petal disc brake operated by a 2-piston caliper delivers powerful braking and a natural feel at the lever.
220 mm rear petal disc and 2-piston caliper give dependable stopping power.
